“Glamorize the Chaos”
Let me start with the fact that I am a music freak aaand I tend to be very psycho “groupie” when I fall in love with a band/artist…
Music has always had an important role in my life – both as a listener and as an “attempted practitioner” with guitar, voice and celtic harp.
Thanks to my habit of reading and translating songs’ lyrics I actually learned English.
During my whole journey from biopsy to the middle of radiation therapy, I attended a total of 5 concerts (more about this in another post coming soon), and music has always been present during every step.
My “End of Chemo” treat was a Bastille concert scheduled before being diagnosed with cancer. I refused to cancel the tickets and kept them as a prize to conquer.
Of course I asked doctors for permission first, and back then in December 2019 we still were living in a Corona free world.
The concert was at the beginning of December and my Chemo ended on the 28th of November.
I booked a long week-end with my boyfriend in one of my favourite cities, Edinburgh, and a rent-a-car to reach for Aberdeen as the concert was there.
In Aberdeen, exploiting all of my stalker skills, I patiently waited outside the Theater where they were performing, and I was able to meet the singer of the band, Dan Smith.
He wrote for me a part of the lyrics of his song, “Divide”:
“Looking back around – glamorize the chaos”
Since then, this song became the main theme of my journey.
The plan was – and still is – to get a tattoo done with the lyrics Dan wrote for me, but I had to postpone it because of the Corona Virus lockdown; nonetheless, I am really looking forward to finally get it done.
This tattoo project helped me a lot to go through all the hard steps after chemo: surgery, convalescence and radiation therapy.
Dan also helped the UK charity Breast Cancer Now running the 2019 London Marathon Keep on Running
