My Chemo: an introduction

Once again I want to underline that every case and every plan is different, so ask your doctor for all the details. For me, Chemo was the start of the journey.

After the initial shock of having cancer, I just wanted to do everything as fast as I could and get rid of my “little friend”.

Unfortunately cancer runs in my family and I already knew what to expect.

I wasn’t that scared to have nausea and all the typical side effects.

What concerned me the most was not being able to do things on my own, having to depend on someone else.

As for the majority of things, the hardest part was the beginning.

Everything is new and you need to deal with this new condition, build new routines and learn to recognise and understand a whole new set of feelings and body reactions.

My Chemo plan was splitted in 2 parts, with different medications and time frames.

I started the first part on the 18/07/2019 with Epirubicin and Cyclophosphamide infusions every 2 weeks. I did a total of 4 sessions with this combination. This was the worst part.

After that I did 12 weekly infusions with Paclitaxel which, compared to the other two medications, was way way lighter and easier to deal with.

I will talk about the two parts of Chemo separately, plus I will give you some tips and essentials you will need for during the Therapy:

Chemo part I – The one with E&C

Chemo part II – The one with the sleeping Beauty
